Board & Card Games

Love Letter (New Edition) by Z-MAN GAMES

This 2019 edition of Love Letter features new artwork, screen-printed tokens, and two new characters (the Chancellor and the spy, adding five cards in total) that allow for games with up to six players.  When played, the Chancellor (value 6) allows you to draw two new cards, add those to your hand, then place two cards of your choice on the bottom of the deck. The Spy (value 0) wins you a favor token if you were the only player to play or discard a spy during the round.

Storytelling Games

Escape the Dark Castle by ASMODEE EDITIONS

A simple fantasy adventure game for 1-4 players. Perfect for newcomers to tabletop gaming, EtDC focuses on storytelling, atmosphere, and player cooperation. Three expansions add new rules and mechanics.

Cult of the Death Knight is the first expansion pack for Escape the Dark Castle, introducing new rules and content to expand and deepen your adventures. Along with a new boss, chapters and curse cards, this pack introduces 3 new playable characters: the Bishop, Hunter, and Mason. The new prisoners are all specialists in one particular area: The Mason’s might knows no bounds, the Hunter can be counted on for cunning, and the Bishop is well-known for his wisdom.

The Scourge of the Undead Queen Adventure Pack (the second expansion) introduces a new mechanic to the system – Companions. These characters can appear during a quest and join-up with the prisoners to assist in their escape. Fans of roleplaying games will know them by the term NPCs (non-player characters). Players will now encounter event cards in the item deck which triggers the arrival of one of the Companions. Each Companion has a unique mixture of traits and a special ability.

The Blight of the Plague Lord Adventure Pack (the third expansion) introduces a new mechanic to the system – Plague. As if the horrors, traps, and challenges of the Dark Castle were not already enough to haunt the prisoner’s every waking thought, there is now a new kind of threat to contend with. As they explore the labyrinthine castle passages, players can now encounter Carriers, plague-infected lunatics bent on spreading the disease. Certain interactions with Carriers can cause prisoners to contract, spread, and even succumb entirely to this rampant atrocity, adding a new dimension and weight to the game’s risk-reward decisions.
